Cotton Soft Toned Lips

As the name of this post goes by its all about LIPS, the most sensual part of our face.

  • The blood vessels underneath the skin render lips its hue.
  • Lips has no sweat glands and hence tends to dry out faster.
  • The skin on lips is thinner than anywhere else on the body and is extremely sensitive.

Lips can make a massive difference to the charm and appeal of ones face. Beautiful lips is a beauty dream of every woman though God has not been very generous with every child of his.

Honestly beautiful lips is not just about softness and pinkness. Pink lips are not nesessarily beautiful and beautiful lips may not be necessarily pink. It has a lot more to do with its shape, size, plumplness, pout and curve. Distinctively shaped, plump, pouted, fuller lips is the real lip dream and we all know how many celebrities have gone under the knife to achieve what they were not born with. Well that being said, we the general beings basically cannot do anything about the shape and size we are born with nor we have abundant wealth to opt for such expensive painstaking surgeries. (Frankly I don’t even have the guts to go for it). All that we can focus is to maintain the lips we are blessed with by keeping them soft, nourished, well toned and moisturized.

COMMON LIP PROBLEMS:

1. Dry chapped lips: Lack of nourishment is the real reason for dry lips. Most of us believe its only winter season that lips need care. In reality they need care all throughout. Keeping a lip balm at all times and applying it often is neither expensive, complex nor time consuming.
2. Dark lips: Dark lips has always been a cause of dismay. But be realistic. If you were born with dark lips, theres nothing much that you can do. But you can prevent further darkness by using Spf loaded balms and taking a bit of extra care.

COMMON CAUSES OF LIP PROBLEMS:

1. Lack of moisturization
2. Exposure to sun
3. Lip biting and licking
4. Use of chemical laden lipsticks particularly matte long stay lipsticks/ cheal lip products.
5. Nutritional deficiency particulary iron, vitamin C, E, D and protien.
6. Smoking

LIP TREATMENT: This treatment consist of 3 steps. Follow it religiously and you will see results in a span of week. Lets get started.

1. LIP SCRUB

Method:Mix 1/2 tsp Rose petal powder, 1/2 tsp powdered sugar and 7-8 drops of organic honey to make your lip scrub.

Usage: Scrub your lips with it for around 5 minutes. Leave it on for 2 minutes. Wash it off and pat dry.

2. LIP MASK

Method: Mask 1: Mix 1/2 tsp of organic turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp lime juice to make a smooth paste.                                               Mask 2:Alternately mix 1 tsp full fat milk powder and 1/2 tsp organic turmeric with required amount of rose water to make a smooth paste.

Usage: Apply Mask 1 evenly and let it dry out completely. Wash it off pat dry. Apply Mask 2 and leave on for 1 minute. Wash off pat dry.

3. LIP BALM

Method: Use an organic lip balm or raw shea butter or any cold pressed carrier oil particulary sweet almond oil or avocado oil.You can also fortify these oils with essential oil of mandarin, pomegranate and cinnamon. All are great for lips. Let me know if you want to see a post on oil blend for lips.

My style: I love the combo of argan oil and Rose hip seed oil in equal proportion to keep my lips hydrated.

Usage: Use it whenever you feel the need to nourish your lips.

Tips:

1. Avoid petroleum based products to moisturize lips. They just coat your lips with grease. Thats it.

2. Never ever use a toothbrush to exfoliate lips. You might not feel harsh while exfoliating but it actually is and will make your lips dark.

3. Always use an organic balm with spf without fail. Homemade balms and oil concoction are better for use at home and at night.

4. Be it any lip treatment particulary scrub and mask. Do it in the evening or before going to bed.

5. Use a lip balm before slathering lipstick. And please remove your lip makeup once you are home with a mild make up remover or any oil. I prefer coconut oil.

6. Avoid drinking hot beverages. Drink warm or let it cool down a bit.

7. Cut the amount of caffeine drink. And drink citrus fruits, omega rich food, diary products for internal nourishment.

8. Avoid biting and licking lips. Don’t peel out skin when its dry. Rather apply honey and let it heal.

Use this treatment on alternate days regularly to get the best out of it. Follow step 3 regularly without skip and in step 2 there are two mask. In case you feel lazy you can opt for any one.
